Fear is not an option

What is your biggest fear?

Failing your next exam? Being late for class or work? Graduating? Not getting accepted in the college of your choice? Failure has a strange secret. You become whatever you think about, because we are a combination of what we expose ourselves to and how we condition ourselves.

We live in a world of negative conditioning. But with our inner power, we can turn all negatives into positives. We have to get past the fear-factor, which sometimes will not go away.

Every day, we see and hear ads on TV that convey fear—fear of becoming sick from medicine the doctor prescribed, fear of food poisoning, fear of terrorism—the list goes on and on. But, with the assurance of the faith within you, you can and will make your visions come alive. Fear can intrude in the classroom, as well. When you take your seat, fear can pull up its own seat in your mind.

When this happens, if you allow it to be absorbed in your inner system, it will translate itself into failure. There are two key words here: “if” and “will.”

In the midst of all the fear, we find ourselves struggling with success. Then we have to look failure in the face and tell it: “You might as well move on, because I am more than this.”

I have struggled with many situations in life, but I made up my mind that I was not going to fail. I have always looked at failure from a different perspective. Failure is not an option for me.

If you exchange “I failed” with “I will learn from my choices,” you will have a completely new mind-set. The option to fail is yours. We do have a choice, and our choices have consequences. We can either give into a negative thought or keep moving on. It’s that simple.

Success or failure is up to us. We can fail to prepare. We can fail to be fully committed to whatever we are destined to do in life. We all have a destiny and purpose in life. Internal fears leads to external fears. Sometimes we allow our reactions to the internal to determine our destination.

It’s not so much what happened to you as what you do with what happens next. We all have choices. We can curse our choice, deny it, make excuses, blame others, or just quit.

Ask yourself the all-important questions: What have I learned? And what am I going to do about it? Failure only occurs when we decide to quit, and it is always too soon to quit. So, look for the why, and then find the solution. Perseverance and persistence will always work in your favor. Never allow your dreams to go unfulfilled. Sometimes, we might have to work a little harder than other people do. If that’s what it takes, then just do it. After all, this is, your dream, and yours only. So, if the question is “How long do I try?” then the answer should be, “Until …”

The big challenge is to become all that you can be by stretching yourself to the limit. You will be surprised by what this will do for your inner being. All you have to do is decide what you want to do and what you are willing to give up or exchange for it, such as going to the movies, watching TV, or talking on the phone. Establish your priorities and don’t relinquish them. Don’t pay too big a price to pursue minor values. The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person’s determination. Remember, the fear of failure is not an option.

Achievement requires more than a vision; it takes courage, resolve, and tenacity. When you look into the mirror, always see yourself the way you want to be. See yourself as strong, confident, and competent. The person you see is the person you will be.

Achievement equals the sum of ability and motivation. When you find the way to improvement, you have opened the door to strengthening your ability. After all, you are shaping your tomorrow with your thoughts and actions today. In your moment of decision, your destiny is shaped. One becomes successful the minute he or she decides to be.

Now, make sure the rest of the year become your year. You can do this once you realize that the most important option you have is the one that you hold. When the harvest time of your life comes, allow it to be good. We all reap just what we sow. If nothing is put in, nothing will come out. You cannot allow any circumstance from the past or present to abort future opportunities.
